Patchwork Scent Trial – Bronze Level

Each trial within the league will consist of 3 search areas plus a written Quiz.

Each area will contain Clove and Gun Oil hides.

Distractions may be in each area.

One false alert per search area is allowed. Any subsequent false alerts will cost the handler 5 points.

Interior – Exterior – Grand Prix

Interior 20 Points available

Number of hides = 3

Time allowed = 5 minutes

The handler will know the time and number of hides

The handler can request time checks

Each hide is worth 5 points

If all 3 hides are found then an extra 5 points will be awarded

Exterior 20 Points available

Number of hides = 3

Time allowed = 5 minutes

The handler will know the time and number of hides

The handler can request time checks

Each hide is worth 5 points

If all 3 hides are found then an extra 5 points will be awarded

Grand Prix Variable points available

This search will consist of a selection of the following items – in the shape of a Grand Prix circuit – 20 items.

Flower pots -shoes – bait boxes – small tubs

Number of hides = NOT Known

Time allowed = NOT Known

The handler will NOT know the time or number of hides

The handler cannot request time checks

Each hide is worth 5 points

If all hides are found then an extra 5 points will be awarded

The handler can be told the number of hides but will forfeit the extra 5 points for finding all the hides

An area will be provided for the handler to stand whilst sending the dog in to find the hides. This will earn them another 5 points

If the handler moves into the search area then the extra 5 points will be forfeited.

Written Quiz Variable points available

A written quiz will be offered but is not obligatory.

The quiz will consist of 10 questions – some questions will require multiple answers. One point will be awarded for each correct answer.
